As Valet, Paris based abstract-instrumental-space-hip hop beat producer is releasing his latest project called Primitive on Moamoo, one branch of Japanese label Art Union, known for putting out one of the most interesting albums of 2010, Electric Egypt’s Impressions Of The Inexpressible Invisible, along with beautiful Lucky Dragons and Ernest Gonzales. As Valet started his musical production journey with his group Electric Conversation in 2007, taking part in vocals and beat programming for their album Communication, released on DJ Simon S’ promising indie UK label, Futuristica Music. His first solo project Space-O- was available on free download via myspace. His ethnic/electronic style was noticed within the scene, which lead to diverse collaborations worldwide, with 1000 Names, Blue Daisy, Deborah Jordan, Ichiro_, Zenios, Electric Egypt and DJ Simon S for his Jazz Chronicles to name a few. With Primitive, As Valet offers a 15 track ticket to the motherland, featuring dreamy vocals from vocalists La Note and Zig16, besides the remixes from Blue Daisy (Black Acre) and the Japanese secret beat maker Ichiro_(oilworks)..... The artwork designed by California artist JAO (known as a visual designer for Carlos Nino's works, Plug Research and dublab).

(Electric Egypt)
"Ancestral spirits channeled through analog filters, dancing to the rhythms of tomorrow."

(boomkat) As Valet presents another highly intriguing release on the Japanese Moamoo label with a head full of psyched hiphop flavours on his remarkable debut album, including remixes from Blue Daisy and Ichiro. We know very little about the artist; his myspace states he's from Uganda, which is most likely a cute bluff, and the Moamoo website is in Japanese, but his music gladly offers all you need to know, collecting 15 relatively brief beat infusions which deftly combine the freeform wills of Sun Ra with the fluid dub loopiness of Sun Araw and cunningly dynamic beat structures reminding of Flying Lotus. It's a genuinely bewitching style he's nailed here, constantly spinning off his own axis to find new trajectories through dense thickets of FX laden jazz samples and hypnagogic ephemera, crushing digital sounds into soupy blurs like Dem Hunger one minute, before blooming into astral psych worthy of Carlos Nino the next, leaving us agape and guessing where the f*ck he's going next. The muddles subs and beatdown Detroit vibes of 'Sprng Time Again' could be a Dabrye cut soaked in live yoghurt cultures, while 'Star Crisis' feat. La Note sounds like Finnish freak folk escorted on a day trip to L.A. Damn, this is a really, really heavy album and should be highly recommended to psych-seeking fans of everything from Animal Collective to Madlib.

(Norman) This is a prime slice of alternative hip-hop in the vein of Plug Research, Dublab and maybe even Flying Lotus. This Parisian artist clearly has an ear for leftfield hip-hop beats and immerse textures combined with vocal samples. On this album he works with vocalists La Note and Zig16 and combines off-kilter beats and rhythms with gritty bass and wonky synth sounds that feel very current in the scheme of things. The tracks sometimes sound like they are about to collapse in the the best possible lazy stoned manner. There is a very raw, on the surface feel but hidden beyond that is a clear vision of sequence and flow. I like the jerky stuttering rhythms that initially feel awkward but eventually become hypnotic and head bouncing. Lots of effects on the vocals too which give them a dreamy edge. The African and reggae samples are all mangled up in there too and I'm reminded a little of stuff like Onra, Push Button Objects, Ko-wreck Technique, J Dilla, Chocolate Industries and some of the more fucked up Ninja Tune stuff etc. albeit in a far more weed smoke misty way. The album straddles the boundaries of abstract hip-hop and electronica brilliantly. Comes in a cool gold and black gatefold CD package with sweet artwork. Fine stuff!

Cooooooosmic !!

個人名義では、2009年にビートテープ"space-O-"をリリース、Zeniosの"Mercury Crimson Dream"収録の'The Voyager'やElectric Egyptの "Impressions Of The Inexpressible Invisible"収録の'E.E. Meets As Valet In Addis Ababa"に参加、そして、親交の深いICHIRO_やBlue Daisyのリミックスも収録された待望の初アルバム"Primitive"を6/16にmoamooよりリリースした(we nod、Onsaでは特典としてビートテープ"space-O-"が付 きます!)。 Oioji Talks about Lights Of A Satellite mix"をsoundcloudで公開している。他にも1000namesによるBack to Woodでのミックス"Comment on a Tree"やICHIRO_による cosmopolyphonicでのゲストミックス"TRAVELIN' BUS MIX"、cosmopolyphonic radio episode 17などに自身の楽曲が取り上げられている。
